A tough, hard-working top-order batsman, Sophie Luff is Somerset through and through - born in Taunton and going on to represent Bath CC, Somerset and Western Storm.
A former England schoolgirls and England Academy captain, she got a duck in her County Championship debut against Berkshire in 2009, but soon became the mainstay of Somerset's middle-order, averaging over 50 in the 2014 season.
Combining cricket with studies at Cardiff Metropolitan University, where she achieved a First in Sport and Physical Education, she was arguably a victim of circumstance in terms of England's reluctance to look beyond their newly centrally contracted players in 2014-15, even with their batting was looking as shaky as it was.
Nevertheless, she soldiered on where others might have fallen away in disappointment, averaging over 50 once again in the County Championship in 2015, and posting her first senior century - 138 not out against Wales..
The 2015 season also saw her hit a huge century of 152* to carry Bath to victory in the national club final at Kibworth CC in Leicestershire.
